Materials + Building Process

For our rocket, we focused on maximizing durability, while maintaining
low weight. Here, we chose to make the fins out of an old binder due
to its high durability and strength properties.

We used a section of a golf tube for the body. We chose this material
as it is relatively light and very strong.

The engine compartment is very basic and modest, it was constructed
out of cardboard, and a coin roller. A paper clip was used as a system
to keep the engine in place during flight.

The nosecone was made out of incredibly light Styrofoam, and is
very delicate. The fins and engine compartment were hot glued in place.
The parachute was created out of an plastic bag, and was attached at
eight places with string for even distribution. The nosecone and
parachute were hot glued to the tether.

The tether was finally hot glued to the inside of the body tube about
10 cm down from the opening.

The rocket was lastly painted red. We chose to paint it red as red
tends to stand out. The rocket is now complete.
